I have extensive experience working closely with full training programs for young drivers.
YES, I take clients with ZERO experience. Starting with me is an excellent first step to build confidence and solid core skill sets. Many clients who do not have a practice person stay with me right up to obtaining their driver’s license. Yes, I can be both your trainer and your practise person.
With over a decade of experience in managing and coordinating full training programs for schools targeting young drivers in Ontario, I’ve built comprehensive courses for multiple organizations. I also have extensive experience in corporate and fleet training.
A significant portion of my clients are teens who have completed or are taking full training courses, including classroom sessions with some of the larger driving schools. I complement what they are learning, helping them to integrate perspectives from family, friends, big driving schools, and my own insights.
I provide recommendations for practice sessions with your co-pilot, ensuring that your driving practice is effective and productive.
Driving is a constantly evolving skill, just like our brains and bodies. Your knowledge and abilities must grow and adapt to keep pace.
My in-car training includes videos and digital resources as needed. This is part of the service because I understand the importance of having the right information and knowing where to find it. And no, there’s no extra charge – it’s all included in the 90-minute session.

New Drivers Session
1 or 2
- This timeline is for a new driver who has 0 to 10 lifetime hours behind the wheel.
| – | TIME | ACTIONS |
|---|---|---|
| Introduction | 6 min | I Drive – You give me your driving history as I drive us to the Calm Area |
| I usually ask many questions 🙂 Friendly queries. | ||
| I demo 3 Basic Must Know basic controls along the way | ||
| Drive | 80 min | We work together as two drivers to move the car around slowly; some never go faster than 10 km/h. We’re very flexible with our work. Whether it’s drawing diagrams, explaining things, taking a short demo drive, checking out parts of the car, or playing with my little red wagon. We do whatever it takes to help you understand what we’re dealing with, together. |
| NOTE: We always move and listen to your pace of movements, NOT MINE! | ||
| Conclusion | 4 min | You stop and we switch drivers so I can bring you back to King Edward Station |
| Along the way, you give me your Top 3 lesson highlights (good, bad or ugly) | ||
| Cooper gives his top 3 plus a suggested direction going forward. | ||
| —- | — | 90 minutes total to here ( 1 hour and 30 minutes ) |
| Followup Summary | 10+ mins | Cooper follow up: Voice Summary, related Videos and Digital Files to send |
| 100 minutes in total full attention to your Plan for Success ( 1 hour and 40 minutes total Cooper Time ) |
2. This timeline is for a new driver who has 10+ lifetime hours behind the wheel or if they are ambitious to drive immediately.
| TIME | ACTIONS | |
|---|---|---|
| Introduction | 6 min | You Drive – Present Your Habits and Knowledge |
| Cooper summarizes strengths and weaknesses. | ||
| Together we decide what direction we want to go to continue. | ||
| Drive | 80 min | I use a pyramid teaching method where we go after the biggest, more impactful skill needed to make the biggest improvement on your driving. Once we achieve a fair grasp of this skill, we move down the pyramid and go after the next more important skill I see that is needed. |
| NOTE: We always move and listen to your pace of movements, NOT MINE! | ||
| Conclusion | 4 min | You summarize your top 3 keys you saw in today’s session. We target a future path for more learning next time. |
| 90 minutes total to here (1 hour and 30 minutes) | ||
| Followup Summary | 10+ mins | Cooper follow-up: Voice Summary, related videos, and Digital Files to send |
| 100 minutes in total full attention to your Plan for Success (1 hour and 40 minutes total Cooper Time) |

P.S. If you are a parent reading this, maybe a good question would be, “Why, Cooper, with all your qualifications and experience (also certified as a BC GLP instructor), are you NOT teaching full new driver GLP programs?” This is not the place to discuss this; however, I will give you a few hints. One is this post: https://ihaveevolved.com/what-happens-when-high-quality-crashes-into-a-low-quality-school/ Second, I have worked for companies where I was dragged to the very top. Third, I live for learning and getting to the targeted result “not crashing” over top of nearly anything else — foolish me. Fourth, I enjoy more than anything driving a car and helping people enjoy driving a car. That is the best answer I can give here, but I would love to discuss it more :). I do have strong beliefs when it comes to the young and driving cars. I would also like to mention that I worked closely with Sue MacNeil PHD who is considered to be the Mother of Graduated Licensing. Sadly she is no longer with us.
