Knowing who has the Right of Way and who should stop and yield and who should be able to go is super important—maybe the most important thing ever when driving and learning to drive Traffic lights break as does everything in the driving environment; nothing is permanent. Power lines get disrupted, and traffic control lights […]
Listening to a client who just failed a driving test can be challenging. It’s often difficult to figure out precisely what happened, as video cameras and voice recordings are not allowed, and examiners’ notes are often sparse. Emotions and embarrassment can distort the client’s recollection of events. Understanding the Client’s Context Client: “It was 3:15 […]
-2 minutes into the start of the driving exam -turns right onto a busy 50 km/h single-lane busy road with an average flow speed of 60 km/h or more -immediately, you follow the car ahead of you 1/2 second to 3/4 second following distance -the rear car is also 1/1 to 3/4 of a second […]
30 mph (48 km/h) 48 km/h (30 mph) This is a very tough way to fail a driver’s test but it happens. Recently a perfect score sheet with remarks like GOOD DRIVING, and GREAT BLIND SPOT CHECKS, still resulted in a fail! TOO SLOW! Before explaining this failure, it’s best you review two previous posts discussing the […]
Too Slow Turned in Front of Green Car Did 38 in the 30 zone Too Slow It was a sunny afternoon around 3:30 pm which is the exact time schools get out so I added an extra cautious approach to my driving while on my driving test and slowed down extra extra to show the […]
Actually, it was a similar sign but not 2 occupants but 6. I turned right into this lane and failed to notice it said 6 occupants. We were only 2 occupants in my car. I failed. Did your driving instructor teach this during your training, yes?
Any red symbol on the dash of your car is important. This one, if on, while you pull away will fail you on a test. Make sure you know this symbol. Don’t Fail. If on and you move, it’s an instant fail.
My car starts 20 or more times a day. I start in the am and drive to my first class. Stop the car. The client starts the car and drives. The lesson ends and they turn it off. I start the car and drive to the next client. That’s four times five clients in a […]
A two-way left-turn lane is very common. The sign tells you that the entire lane allows you to set up to turn left. Once you enter the lane you must turn left at the first exit. It is a good place to set up a left turn because it moves you out of the traffic […]

I failed my driving test three times. I do my blind spot checks and I do my 360 scans but on the ICBC driving test, they told me I did not do them. I was very angry and even talked with the manager. Really I don’t understand it. Finally, I drove with Cooper. After ten […]
DO NOT DRIVE LONG DISTANCES IN THIS LANE ONCE IN THE LANE DO NOT CHANGE BACK INTO YOUR ORIGINAL LANE MUST TURN LEFT AT THE FIRST CLOSEST ROAD ONCE ENTERING THIS LANE DO NOT USE THIS LANE FOR ANY OTHER PURPOSE https://www.drivesmartbc.ca/lanes/two-way-left-turn-lanes
Absolutely clean drive. Examiner said they drove amazing and near-perfect but… Did 38 in a 30 zone. FAIL Failed the driving test. 🙁 Many driving schools refuse to talk about fails, crashes, fender benders or the dark side of driving. Just because you don’t talk about something doesn’t mean it’s not present.
Parking lots, driveways, alleyways, malls, gas stations, any roadway that is off the streets that’s not really a clearly marked street or place to drive is a SLOW SLOW SLOW land. These places cars bike people can walk move in all and any direction. And they do often without any regard for the 1500 kg […]
The first examiner was silent and grumpy. I think he was having a bad day. It was so distracting throughout the entire test and worse of all, I ended up failing. The second time I failed the examiner was great and very talkative. He said I failed because of a wide right-hand turn. 90% of […]
