This term surprises me. It is used often when I ask clients why they came to me. Why is teaching at the learner’s level such a novelty? What other type of teaching is more prevalent?

WELL LET ME TELL YOU

Many of the biggest schools teach from a piece of paper with a list of checklist items laid out by someone someplace, some expert or some group. In fact, I have worked for and presented these checklist robotic grand scheme solutions to many new drivers.

In fact, as I write this I am following a checklist for one of my clients who I am training by request of one said big company. Well, that’s how you get big. Develop checklists and a system and force your staff to do the list. Collect the clients and send over the instructor with the company checklist. Do this lesson one. Do this lesson ten. Simple.

But is learning to master this risky driving thing simple? Should not a complex problem be solved with a complex solution?

What about training the instructors, upgrading them, and helping them learn the latest court judgements or reviews recent by law or law changes?

What about providing instructors with a huge collection of teaching strategies, research on the best instructional methods, law books, case law, and crash studies, and helping your instructors to be better every day?

What about teaching to the learner’s level?

I have a huge library of knowledge from all levels of learners and driving-related problems. Come and receive exactly the information you need at the level you are at. No lesson is the same. Everyone’s brain and learning style are totally unique The presentation of the information you need to advance should also bend to fit you precisely. A great trainer must be extremely flexible and have access to a full extensive library, far above the level you are at. Oh, that sounds complicated! It’s much easier to simply follow the same plan and blanket everyone with the canned solution!

What is their training? Basic 3 weeks to become an instructor?

Did the 3 weeks teach them safe driving strategies or crash research or any research studies at all?

What about their own driving skills? Are they trained? Skid school? Pull a trailer? Stick shift? First Aid? Any other safety training of any kind?

What was the last research study they read? Or have they ever read anything related to safety crashes, causes or the effect education has on drivers?

What is their crash experience? How do they drive?

How many years ago did they take their last training program or any related training? 20 years ago! Never!
