People say it all the time.
I drive too slow.
Someone told them that. Traffic told them that. An old instructor told them that. A parent in the passenger seat told them that.
So they speed up to match a standard that is not theirs.
For twenty years you sat in the back seat watching people who have already driven a million kilometres. Their tempo got into your bones. Then you sit in the driver’s seat for the first time and measure yourself against that tempo.
Of course you feel slow.
You are not slow. You are new.
New is not a defect. New is the truth.
I have sat in trainer rooms and heard people brag. “I had them on the highway in the first hour of their life.” When I asked why, they said, “I’m a great trainer.”
That is not great. That is ego.
The biggest safety device in the car is you. Your brain. Your eyes. Your ability to manage this 2000 kg body.
We stay on quiet streets if that is what you need. We repeat the same left until your shoulders drop. We do not call that behind. We call that learning that lasts.
Your pace is not slow. Your pace is the program.
