Yes, many New Canadian drivers can drive on their countries license for a certain period ( 90 days, six months other ).

At some point, you will need to pass a Class 5 ‘N’ driving test.

Here is the SHOCKING part.

For some, you can drive alone here in British Columbia on your country’s license.

Then, if you attempt the Class 5 ‘N’ driving test and fail, you will face two big surprises:

  1. ICBC takes away your countries license
  2. ICBC may give you a learner license, STOPPING you from being able to drive alone and REQUIRING you to have a fully licensed person sitting beside you!

BEFORE THE FAIL – YOU COULD DRIVE ALONE IN BRITISH COLUMBIA.

AFTER THE FAIL – YOU MUST HAVE A LICENSED DRIVER WITH YOU AT ALL TIMES.

This is a big surprise and a shock for many New Canadian drivers!

Now you know!

IF YOU FAIL YOUR ICBC DRIVING TESTRETEST WAIT TIMES ARE
1st FAILED ATTEMPT14 DAYS
2nd FAILED ATTEMPT30 DAYS
3rd FAILED ATTEMPT60 DAYS
