I found the process very simple and very quick.

  1. THE CAR
  2. CAR OWNERSHIP
  3. DRIVER’S LICENSE AND ID
  4. CAR HISTORY & DRIVERS HISTORY
  5. CHOOSE COVERAGE ($30 or $40)
  6. START TIME DATE AND END DATE TIME
  7. STICKERS FOR WINDSHIELD
  • 1. Find an ICBC Insurance location. They are everywhere! Certainly within walking distance for most city dwellers.
Fin an ICBC insurance office.
  • 2. Bring with you an Identification of both yourself and your car. The easiest method for the car was to bring a past insurance policy, which gives the car’s serial number as well as the history of your past insurance. Your own driver’s license also will reveal your past insurance history.

  • 3. I paid $30 for 24-hour coverage. They call it a Temporary Operation Permit. I call it Same Day Insurance or One Day Insurance.
legal one day coverage with precise registration information
  • 4. You get two big stickers like this. One goes to the back window and the smaller one goes to the front window. It is good for 24 hours, but if I remember correctly, it started at midnight the day I walked in and ended at midnight that same day. Something like that. I thought it was weird because it wasn’t from the time I bought to the same time the next day. I could be wrong here.

CALL ICBC (604) 661-2800 to get the facts please.
