- License Valid Up to Date & Proper Class of Vehicle
- Walk around the car looking for objects underneath or close to the car in the blind areas
- As you approach the car look under to see if anything is odd if under the car
- Look for any liquids dropping out of the car & learn what they are if so (air conditioning water in summer)
- Look for broken lights
- Look for damage to the cars body or windows or bumpers
- Look at the tires to ensure they are inflated and not balding – the tread is good and even
- Take note of the direction of the steering wheels and the distance to curbs or objects close to your car
- Turn on all the lights and check all lights working or broken
- Find an umbrella or something to engage the brake lights to check that all three reds work (you can also use a cement wall to see the light reflections)
We strongly recommend not training a new driver on your own. We suggest you hire a registered driving instructor with experience in a dual-controlled, fully insured driving school car.
