New drivers typically struggle with 3 main maneuvers in the following order of difficulty; left turns, lane changes then parking.
Here are my two steps to building your parking success. First, this simple game will prepare your thinking for both parking maneuvers on a driving test. Second, the main reason drivers cannot park is they-have-not-backed-up-long-enough.
Play this simple game and struggle.
The struggle is the learning. Learning is difficult for some because it forces you to change some of your habitual thinking. Struggling and confronting this history builds a new understanding. This learning often comes hand in hand withfrustration, strong emotions, and confusion. GREAT! THATS LEARNING.
OH COOPER I tried that game but gave up. Its too hard to control the controls!
YES YES! That’s precisely the point. You must figure out a way to control the controls. Once you succeed, watch how powerful that discovery is when you actually get back into the car to park.
The game is free. The game is called Dr. Driving & Parking
- STEERING
- GAS
- BRAKE
- P R N D
Your brain is the central processor when you drive in real life. Its the same brain you use when you play this game. Repeating the game will strengthen the processes inside your brain, as it would when you really drive.
Or course it’s not exactly the same because your body and feet are not being used, but for your brain, it helps strengthen the decision-making giving you the focus you need to reverse in a real car.
SO RELAX AND STRUGGLE!
This is not a race. It is accurate decision-making, which is perfect for a new driver!
TRUST ME! TRY IT!
Plus its fun! And truly, it will help you with the real parking.
The frustration is GOOD! This means you are learning. Keep going until you get it! Persist until the AHA comes. Once you achieve the AHA you will be able to park for the rest of your life.
