How to Drive on Highways Without Feeling Overwhelmed Many drivers experience stress when entering high-speed highways, especially when merging or changing lanes. The key to highway confidence is understanding speed matching, lane positioning, and traffic flow.

Great highway drivers keep a large BUBBLE around them by maintaining spacing, scanning ahead for slowdowns, and adjusting their speed smoothly. Mastering highway driving means developing rhythm and anticipating traffic movement.

Also one of the core fears to understand BEFORE you can do these above suggestion is to come to terms with the basic fear of SPEED. Driving at higher speeds straight for a length of time allows a calm to arrive and teaches you feet, hands and eye control at these faster speeds. Once you have control of the basics, gas, brakes, steering and vision, at faster speeds, then you are ready to move amongst the high speed traffic.

Again acknowledging that a New driver is not an Experienced driver.

Are you in control on highways, or just hoping for the best?
